UAE Condemns Iran’s Missile Attack on Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base

Date: June 24, 2025
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong and formal condemnation of Iran’s recent missile strike on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, labeling the act as a serious violation of Qatari sovereignty and international law.

In an official statement released by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country called for immediate de-escalation, urging all parties to exercise restraint and prevent further destabilization of the Gulf region.

💬 Official Statement

“The UAE strongly condemns the Iranian missile attack targeting military installations in Qatar. This represents a flagrant violation of international norms, and it endangers the security of our region,”
UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The UAE emphasized its support for Qatar’s sovereignty and reaffirmed its position that acts of aggression must be met with diplomatic pressure and unified international response.

🛰️ Background: The Attack on Al Udeid

On June 23, Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles at Al Udeid Air Base, home to the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East and a key NATO partner hub. While the U.S. confirmed minor damage and no casualties, the strike has raised tensions sharply across the Gulf.

The missile attack followed Iran’s public warning against continued U.S. military presence in the region, and came hours after reports of escalating intelligence activity near Iranian borders.

🌍 Regional Response

  • Qatar expressed deep concern and initiated emergency talks with U.S. and Gulf allies.

  • Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia also condemned the attack.

  • The GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) is expected to hold an emergency session later this week.

🛑 UAE Calls for Diplomacy, Not Escalation

The UAE has consistently positioned itself as a regional advocate for dialogue and de-escalation, especially following its normalization agreements and increased mediation efforts across the Middle East.

“Our region needs peace, not provocation. We call upon the international community to hold violators accountable,” the statement added.

🔎 What’s Next?

With airspace in the region temporarily closed and now cautiously reopened, the focus turns to diplomatic channels, backdoor negotiations, and international pressure to prevent further conflict.
